"This piece reflects the age-old conflict between man and nature. The Forest King represents the spirit of the forest. He has been felled by human weaponry, signifying the conquest and inevitable destruction of nature by man."

“Instead of a typical ‘inspired’ creator, I wanted to show the melancholy and struggle of The Inventress, as well as her fantasies. This piece is partly based on The Tales of Hoffman, a series of 19th century macabre fairy tales in which there often exists a tension between imagination and
reason. The interwoven narratives of the stories follow the tormented and magical journeys of characters who meet strange inventors or magicians. Lastly, this piece is also a bit of a portrait of my creative process, in which my intellectual side battles my imagination, and where ideas come in droves, although often half-formulated and fragmented.”
